Alex Albon is one of the many drivers who have impeding contract endings. Whilst Williams Team Principal James Vowles has declared Albon is under contract with the team until 2025, that hasn't stopped the driver discussing his future with the team.

Commenting on whether he could soon follow other drivers such as Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton in annoucing a new contract, Albon said: "I'm keen to stay out of it. That's more for management to deal with."

Albon has been linked to a move back to Red Bull in the past, with sources (for example Peter Windsor) suggesting the team offered him a three-year contract. For Albon, he thinks drivers announcing their new contracts seems a little bit too early in the season: "I think everyone's seen how early it's taken place and it's been a bit uncomfortably early for, for a lot of teams well as drivers, if you imagine."

Following speculation over Albon leaving his team, Vowles was compelled to speak out and share that the driver was contracted with the British team until 2025. Vowles clarified at the Williams' car launch in February "Alex has signed with Williams until the end of 2025, that's signed," before adding: "He is an incredible driver that deserves his place towards the front. He and I have good chats about where we want to move forward."

Nevertheless, the Thai and British driver has not ruled out moving teams in the future, despite having a good relationship with Williams. He does not deny there has been 'questions and general chats' with other teams. For now though his focus is on his racing, and he intends to keep his 'head down'.

When did Albon join Williams?

Albon joined the team in 2022, replacing British driver George Russell, who made the move to Mercedes. Prior to racing with Williams, Albon started his F1 career with Toro Rosso (now Visa Cash App RB), before being promoted to Red Bull. Neverthless, he was demoted to a reserve and test driver for the team in 2021, with his seat being taken by Sergio Perez. In his first year at Williams he raced alongside Nicholas Latifi, who was then replaced by American driver Logan Sargeant from 2023. Unlike Albon, Sargeant's contract comes to an end in 2024.
