Oliver Mintzlaff is not usually a man of extensive interviews. The Red Bull GmbH managing director's conversations with the media can be counted on one hand. Yet last week the German - initiated by the parent group and not Red Bull Racing - decided to invite Bild for an interview. In it, Mintzlaff stated, among other things, that Toto Wolff should stop trying to hijack Max Verstappen away to Mercedes.

The Austrian team boss has never made a secret of being keen to bring in Max Verstappen as Lewis Hamilton's successor. He also realises that the Dutchman - currently driving the strongest car in the F1 field - will not simply trade that position for a place at Mercedes, which is currently struggling to secure finishes in the top five.

"As I said before: if I were him, I wouldn't leave, at least not before 2025. But it's all about him. He is the most coveted driver. The best man of the moment. So he has to make the decisions. And maybe no decision has to be made. Maybe everything stays as it is. But that is also a guideline for us then," Wolff said in Miami on Sunday evening.

Wolff won't comment on 'guy from Red Bull'

Mintzlaff is THAT certain: things will stay as they are, Verstappen is not going anywhere and Wolff had better stop constantly talking about trying to attract Verstappen. To that, Wolff responded: 'I don't know what this guy is commenting on', only to add moments later 'as I said, it has no relevance for what this guy says to me.'
